Forge World Games Day Preview pt1- Tau XV107

So that time of year is almost upon us again….   GAMES DAY!

This year it’s been switched to the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham which halves the amount of tickets and makes for less hustle and bustle.

As ever, Forge World will be pre-releasing lots of new stuff for purchase on the day and as last year, they are teasing us all with little mailouts and pictures of what’s going to be on sale.

Firstly, Horus Heresy: Massacre will be on sale. This has been confirmed and I have already reserved my copy for collection on the day.

Secondly, as the title of this post suggests, there is a new Tau Riptide variant which will be on sale as well. The Tau XV107 R’Varna Battlesuit looks like a Riptide with BIGGER ASS GUNS.

It has a £70 price tag which is not too bad considering the Riptide is £50 alone. Link here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/Games_Day_Preview_One.html

People keep asking me about which Primarch will be unveiled at Games Day; All I can tell you is this: To my knowledge, the next Primarch is Ferrus Manus. The reasons why he has been done before Horus and Mortarion are because (SPOILER ALERT!) he gets owned fairly early on in the Heresy and they needed to get him out of the way. He will allegedly slot together with Fulgrim’s base to present the first Primarch duel. Now, it’s possible that Mortarion is finished and we will get a double release, but as I say, having spoken to Simon Egan, Will Hayes, Tony Cotterall and Alan Bligh at various events, this is what I believe to be the case.

I fully expect Erebus to be available just prior to or at Games Day. I’m told that Kor Phaeron isn’t ready yet, but who knows?

If you know something about releases for Games Day that I do not, then leave me a message! 🙂

Cheers,

Showcase: Tau Remora Drone

Good evening!

Back to the lovely blue faced fish people today 🙂

Following on from Darkstrider I have now finished my Remora Drone Fighter. Mainly a blend of Elysian Green and Nurgling Green with Tau markings in Incubi Darkness and Kabalite Green.

Sadly, it seems Forge World are out of stock of these so I’m not sure if they’re coming back or not…

But here it is anyway! 🙂

Showcase: Darkstrider

Hello!

This weeks #miniaturemonday showcase is my first dip into Tau waters – I have some ground to make up on @Borkan_Ice ‘s growing sept though.

Colour palette is very simple; Black, Elysian/Nurgling Green and a bit of Incubi Darkness and Sotek Green for contrast.

I’ve chosen the N’dras sept, partly because I like the colours and because it sounds like ‘Madras’ (which I like!), more because they will sit nicely as allies for my marines but mostly because the Tau of the N’dras sept are regarded as being untrustworthy, have quick tempers and are generally miserable gits. I like this. 😀

Showcase: Tau XV88 Broadsides

IMG_0511

Hello all

This weeks #MiniatureMonday are two Tau XV88 Broadsides. This first variant with the long barrel is holding a Twin-Linked Railgun and on its shoulder a Twin-Linked (anti-termi) Plasma Rifle. The second is carrying Twin-Linked fists of High-Yield Missile Pods and on its shoulder a Twin-Linked Smart Missile System – lots and lots of dakka!

Showcase: XV104 Riptide

IMG_0752

Well this has been a mission to paint in time for doubles this weekend, but here it is – the Riptide!

I don’t know how well it can be seen from these pics but the black areas have all been dry brushed with Dawnstone grey and washed nun oil. I’m quite pleased with the effect because it really brings out the darker parts of the model. Also apologies for the base not being complete, it requires a flock, but we’re nearly there.

The gun has been magnetised and fits quite well into the arm without showing.
I also pleased that the plastic cast for this kit came with very few mould lines, so I only had to shave off the sprue cuts.
